BARSKA Biometric Safe

BARSKA Biometric Safe

Amazon Price: $187.99

If it’s a state-of-the-art, compact and convenient safe to keep your valuables in, Barska Biometric Safe is the one for you. It’s ideal for keeping your money, firearms, medicines, pieces of jewellery, passport, and other valuable items. It is convenient and state-of-the-art because it has a secure fingerprint pad and opens only with the touch of the finger. It can be programmed to store and recognize up to 30 fingerprints (authorized to access it) — no need for number combinations or keys to open the safe. But should anyone without approved access via his fingerprint need to open the safe, the emergency backup keys may be used.

Compact because it measures 16.5” x 7.75” x 14.5” (exterior W x H x D), it can be placed or mounted in any safe place. Its interior measures 16.25” x 7” x 14.25” (W x H x D). It comes with mounting hardware.

The Biometric Safe is designed to operate using four AA batteries (not included in the box). It weighs 31 pounds and carries a one-year limited warranty. The product box contains the Biometric safe, mounting hardware, and two emergency keys.

Barska Biometric Safe ranks no. 1 in the Amazon list of Best Sellers in Gun Safes and Cabinets. It is manufactured by Barska, a worldwide sport optics company with corporate offices in La Verne, California, and warehouses and distribution centers in Shanghai, China and La Verne. Barska offers an extensive line of precision sport optics products, and enjoys strong brand recognition within the optics industry.

It’s worth knowing more about these gun safes from one of the bestselling brands on Amazon. Barska gets most of its sales from binoculars and rifle scopes, so it isn’t a specialist like Cannon. Its safes share looks and features with models from Protex Safe Company, a Chinese OEM. The 30-fingerprint-capacity module resembles models widely-installed on doors, which is true for many biometric gun safes.

Door and body thickness are 7-gauge and 16-gauge with no UL rating and no mention of California firearms safety device approval. These gun safes won’t slow a thief who brought tools, and don’t miss Barska telling you they aren’t fireproof. That said, I like the one combining an optical fingerprint scanner with a back-up keypad.

Disclosure could be better. Buyers have a legitimate need for a clear indication of a product’s origins, especially one marketed for a job as sensitive as a gun safe’s. I own and love Cayin amplifiers and Usher speakers, but then I knew exactly what I was getting.
