Gun safes under $300 give you a pretty good range. If you are getting a rifle safe, it will be a lower end rifle safe, but it will be sufficient for basic needs. If you are getting handgun safes under $300, you will see that these are high end safes, ones that you can trust in.
One thing that definitely irks me when looking at the rifle safes is some of the reviews. If you are buying a $230 gun safe, you know you are not getting the highest quality, right? It will not have a fine fire proof interior, or a three inch thick door. The metal will be thinner than the high end safes. So, if you come across reviews where it seems that the owner thought they were getting a $1500 safe for $200 and realized that it was actually a cheap safe upon arrival, dismiss them as ignorant and proceed with your research.

 HOMAK HS30003630 12-Gun Security Cabinet, Silver Vein $249.78 The Homak 12 gun safe is one of the best gun safes under $300 that you can find. That is nothing to sneeze at in this price range. These gun safes will fit several long guns and rifles. It will depend on what type of rifle that you have. Generally, the amount that they claim will fit is the maximum that will fit. Reviewers claimed to fit anywhere from just four all the way up to ten rifles in this safe. They boast of steel that is 7/8″ thick. From my understanding, this is the steel around the door frame, and it is legit for them to advertise it as this thickness, but it is misleading. The rest of the safe is made of a much thinner grade of steel. It is thin enough that you won’t want to leave it next even the most rudmentary tools as they will only aid a bruglar with breaking into the safe. For the money, this is a great gun cabinet. |
 LockSAF biometric fingerprint safe $309.99 At the time of this writing, the LOCKsaf biometric fingerprint safe falls into the gun safes under $300 category. Hopefully it doesn’t go up because at this price it is a steal. When looking at it, you see that the lid is a thin piece of metal. That is really a misconception. The lid is thinner then the rest of the box because it lifts electronically. If it were too heavy, it would fail to open on command. They have balanced the weight of the lid perfectly. It is heavy duty, but the maximum weight that the electronics of the device will allow for. One thing I love about this over some of the other electronic safes is the key back up. There is no excuse for any safe of this size to not have a key backup, yet you still see them. Electronics are great, but there is no guarantee that they will last forever. This safe is solid and strong, and possibly the best handgun safe on the market. |
 V-Line Industries 3842-SA Shotgun Case $267.30 This is a pretty secure gun safe for the gun safes under $300. First, this is a shotgun case and not a long gun rife case. It is a tad over 40″ long, so you really want to check your guns before purchasing this safe. It will fit two guns. It is not a huge, deap safe, but it will fit anywhere in your home. One reviewer commented that it looked like a breaker box when installed. This is a perfect disguise. It has a manual lock. It is a five part combination, which is pretty secure. It is large enough that you don’t really have to worry about thieves ripping it off the wall. This safe comes with predrilled holes in the back to allow you to install it even easier. |
 V-Line Industries 3912-SH Hide-Away Handgun Safe $255.15 This is another handgun safe that may be one of the best one on the market. Gun safes under $300 are a steal for rifle safes, but they are also the high end handgun safes. This is a prime example of that. This v-Line safe is a strong safe, very sturdy. There are several things to like about it. One, it has a manual push button combination. It is fast to get into, unlike a dial lock. This is pretty important when you are looking at gun safe that holds your handgun, one that you might want to keep by your bedside. There are several mounting options, which is also very useful. You can mount it from the top, like under a desk, or on the bottom, allowing you to install it in a drawer. It has a small drawer inside of it that protects the gun from scratches. The drawer is removeable, so if you want more height in the safe, just take it out and add your own padding. |
 Stack-On GC-910-5 10-Gun Compact Steel Security Cabinet, Green $229.00 This Stack-On gun safe is one of their several gun safes under $300. This one varies by price depending on which retailer you get it from. At the time of this writing, there is a retailer selling it at a steep discount. This is another gun safe that is made fairly inexpensively. It is not the kind of safe that you want to keep your prized jewelry or spare cash in. It could easily be broken into. It is not fire proof or fire resistant. It is just a steel cabinet that locks. It will hold up to ten guns, depending on their size. Some say it will only hold five guns. If you have long guns, don’t expect the be able to have a shelf at the top, which is customary. The advantage to this safe is the fact that it protects your kids or their friends from hurting themselves. If that is what you are looking for, then this gun will suit you. |
