Best Gun Safes Under $100

There are a surprising amount of gun safes under $100. You cannot expect the same quality from these less expensive ones as you would with them ranging in the thousands. Still, these are great starter lock boxes, or great for those who want to keep their kids out of their firearm collections.

Prices do change, so it is possible that since compiling this that some of these have slipped above the $100 mark, but they are all inexpensive and good quality.

Some of My Favorite Gun Safes Around $100:

Gunvault GV1000D-DLX Mini Vault Deluxe

$110.06

This is one of several under $100 offered by GunVault. This one has a quick access via an electronic combination. It is perfect for a bedside box. If you hear something odd going on in your home, you will feel secure knowing that your firearm is just wthin reach with this one. It is only large enough to hold one, maybe two handguns, but if you put in two, you would risk getting one scratched.

As with all electronics products, there is the risk of the electronic function failing eventually. That is why this one has a key opening as well. You can never be locked out of yours in case you forget to change the batteries or a wire burns out inside.

Stack-On IWC-55 Full-Length In-Wall Cabinet

$99.97

The Stack On Wall Cabinet is a great buy for under $100. Wall cabinets can be pretty pricey. Now, this one is small. As is shown in the picture, you will really only be ably to fit a handful of firearms in there. It comes with adjustable shelves, so you can add in other valuables if you feel inclined.

Installation of this Stack On gun cabinets is simple. You will need to cut a hole in the wall and mount the cabinet to some studs. It comes with mounting materials. This is an easy home improvement project and one that no one needs to know about. It will go great in the back of a closet or in any tucked away in a corner.

Winchester E-Vault Personal w/ Electronic Lock

Price Not Found

Winchester is one of the names that you can really trust. When I saw that they had one under $100, I knew I had to include it. Not only that, but it had great reviews. This Winchester handgun safes has a four part combination. That will be easy enough to remember, but not so easy to crack.

The one is super secure. It has a plush felt interior, so you won't ever have to worry about your firearm being scratched. This is another one that is great for a bedside table or where ever you may need quick access to your firearm. Winchester owners are boasting about this. Many get several, one for the home, one for the office, one for the car. I don't blame them, expecially with such a low price.

Stack - On® 8 Rifle Security Cabinet

$108.50

This is what is commonly referred to as a rifle locker or a gun cabinet. Let's remember that we are loooking for one under $100 here. This is not the top of the line, but it is pretty impressive for what you pay for. One reviewer said it held BB rifles. That is pretty good. With rifle cabinets, you generally want to double the capactiy that you need, so this is a good cabinet if you need to store four to six firearms.

I haven't seen any companits about the locking mechanism. Of course, the metal is possibly the thinnest on the market. This won't stand up against a robber with a tool. Don't store it near your own tools or else it will definitely not stand up to a robbery. It will stand up to some kids that you want to keep out of your rifles.

Quarter Master 7650 PISTOL BOX

$89.56

This safe is an excellent one under $100. It would be at the top of my list for handgun safes in this price range. First off, it comes with a ten year warranty, which is exceptional considering the price. Second, is is one of the most versatile handgun safes that I have seen, period.

You can mount it to your wall, floor car, whatever. You can attach it to something. Then, you can seperate the part with you firearm and any other vauables so that it is portable. The mechanism that attaches it is pretty much burglar proof, though, so you don't have to worry about someone else running off with your whole safe. It is electronic with a key bakcup lock.

All major retailers, such as Wal-Mart, sell gun safes these days. A good safe is essential for anyone who owns firearms, and considering that not all safes are equal, it is important to do research prior to buying Walmart gun safes. If you own any firearm, you need to keep it away from children and visitors. Do not make the mistake of thinking that any ole’ safe will do, because it will not.

With that said, are Wal-Mart gun safes worth buying?

Wal-Mart sells a variety of safety products ranging from portable to electronic from different brands. The price tag ranges from $150 – $1,500, depending on the brand, size, and materials from which the safe or gun cabinet is made. While the price tag is important, it is not the only thing on which you should base your decision; you need to read gun safes reviews. Sometimes you DO get what you pay for, so buying too cheaply is not a good idea.

If you were to go by reviews on the department store’s website, you will see that consumers are overall pleased with Walmart gun safes. The retailer sells products from manufacturers such as Sentry, Honeywell, and DAC SportSafe. Let us take a brief look at each brand.

Sentry: This family owned group has been providing security storage containers since 1930. The products undergo rigorous UL and ETL testing before putting a product out on the market. Despite this, some consumers complain that these products are not as fire resistant as they should be. Nevertheless, the fact that they pass Underwriters Laboratories and ETL testing is one that cannot be ignored, as these two organizations ensure that products meet independent standards and are in compliance with fire endurance safety specifications.

Overall, Sentry safes are durable and strong, both factors of which many consumers rate highly. The units are affordable, but not cheap, and are available with either an electronic LED lock or combination lock. There have been a few complaints by online consumers that they do not provide enough room for as many guns as claimed by Wal-Mart, but are still great products otherwise.

Honeywell: Honeywell safes are mostly given average ratings by consumers. This company does not make the best storage products in the world, but they are pretty good choices for those looking for cheap gun safes. If you are a new firearm owner and are looking for an introductory level of safety, then you can settle with Honeywell. However, if you are looking for advanced security for your guns, you might want to go with something more expensive and of higher quality.

There are a few good things worth mentioning about Honeywell safes. They are well put together with organized shelves and interior lights. The products sold at Wal-Mart have pry resistant doors, so if your main concern is theft, then Wal-Mart gun safes made by Honeywell is a fine choice after you’ve read some gun safe reviews.

DAC SportSafe: These storage units are portable as you will read in a gun safe review or two. The consumer ratings and reviews for DAC SportSafe portable gun safes are mostly above average. If you need something to take on your hunting trips or plan on going on vacation, then this is your best choice in regards to retail gun safes.

DAC SportSafe units are both durable and easy to transport. They are made of 14-gauge steel and can hold at least two guns. The security is enabled by an entry code, for which you are giving over 10,000 programming possibilities. The only complaints that some consumers have about these portable safes are minor in nature. A few minor flaws include flimsy battery compartment, low-quality metal mounting clips, and a door that opens and slams too forcefully.

In conclusion, a Wal-Mart gun safe is worth buying for owners who want a decent amount of protection. All the safes are at least average in quality, and most consumers are satisfied with their purchases. If you are looking for a good retail safe, then Wal-Mart is your best choice. These safes are good enough for their low price, so if affordability is your main concern, they are worth buying.

A cheap gun safe is not all a waste. Many are sturdily built and can be relied upon. You just have to know what you are getting. You might not think it is a big deal where you buy your gun safes these days. All the major department stores sell them. Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, stores like these all sell safes at really low prices and these safes seem pretty good at face value. However, more and more companies that sell safes through those major department stores are being forced to cheapen their safes and this is a big problem for your home security. You could even find some used gun safes better than the Wal-Mart gun safes.

When shopping for a safe you need to pay attention to the price tag but you don’t want to scrape the bottom of the barrel either. You’ll probably be able to find some gun safes for sale at your neighborhood department store for under $40. Not a bad deal if you are looking to save some money but you really want to consider why you want a gun safe in the first place.

Cheap Gun Safes – What is their purpose?

Different safes will come with different levels of quality. If you are looking for gun safes under $150, you need to expect that it will not be the same quality as the safes that are being sold for ten times that price. I think you can get decent safes in the $250-$600 range. Anything above that will give you something you can count on forever and that will last often through fire and flood. If you want to spend less than that, you are probably taking a risk with your safe. Cheap gun safes should not hold your jewelry and heirlooms but should just be used to keep your guns out of your kids hands. This is really the only reason to buy cheap gun safes, as they won’t protect your guns from theft and fire.

Now, here is a review of the bestselling Walmart gun safe, from Walmart’s website,

“We have had this safe in our home for about six months or so. This last weekend our home was robbed and they were able to break into this safe.
They used a skill saw, pry-bars, hammers and even set it on fire. They entire area above the door was pryed up the top locking bolt was pryed back into the door, the side of the safe was also pryed to bypass the locking bolt…one of the bolts was broken off. It took some time for the safe to be broken into but it is definatly possible to get it open. My suggestion is if you have valuable items.. spend the money on a better safe…I wish we would have..”

Okay, now that you are seriously scared to have your valuables taken away from you by lowly criminals thanks to cheap Walmart gun safes, its time to start thinking seriously and realistically about a gun safe for your home. You can’t just buy a bargain basement gun safe and expect it to last forever, withstand severe fire damage, or prevent theft or even small prying hands of smart and determined children. You have to put time into thinking about where you’re buying your gun safe so that you can insure that your possessions will be safe.

The internet is a great resource for this. I assume you’re probably currently in the market for a gun safe since you found my site so you already get the gist of how to use the search engines to find what you’re looking for. You can find tons of gun safe reviews and all sorts of other information about different brands of gun safes. Read up on Browning safes and a biometric gun safe. Those fingerprint gun safe locks are the coolest thing.

When I’m shopping for a safe I will always first check out all the brands online and read a gun safe review or two before I purchase anything. You never can be too careful when you’re dealing with your own safety and the security of your home, children, and livelihood. You want to be extra sure that you’re getting the best safe you can afford.

There are some really great sites out there for this.I know I don’t buy them often but sometimes I help friends pick out new gun safes. Amazon has a vast library of different gun safes reviews and you can look at all the specifications and make sure you’re getting the best gun safe for your money.

The only problem with shopping online is that you have to pay for the shipping costs. It can get pretty expensive to ship a gun safe; those things are huge beasts of metal, but with Amazon, you can often find safes with free shipping, which is a huge savings. It can also be a hassle hauling such a huge safe from a local store, and local stores have steep delivery charges if you want it delivered to your home. Free shipping from Amazon will be a much better deal, and you can read reviews to make sure that you are getting high quality.
